Once again, too long between newsletters, and there is plenty of news both within NewSpec, and with new products. In March we were lucky enough to welcome Chris Kelaart to the NewSpec team, Chris has extensive sales experience with Bruker, and has spent over 20 years in the XRF space. Chris is working in with our team really well, and brings some new ideas and plenty of knowledge given his long history with Bruker and other companies.
We continue to be very busy with new products and new installs including the new multi photon lasers (InSight X3), Hitachi’s first foray into 200 kV aberration corrected TEM (HF5000), Hitachi’s new 120 kV TEM (HT7800) and new cameras (KURO) and Spectrometers (FERGIE) from Princeton Instruments.
We are delighted to have pending installations for the Spectra Physics InSight X3 and Princeton Instruments KURO and FERGIE already, and look forward to sharing first results. We will also soon be installing our first two Solstice single-box amplifiers in Sydney, bringing the total number of amplifiers we are supporting beyond double figures, more than any other local supplier.
Our partnership with HTC (Hitachi Technologies Canada) has been extremely helpful, and we are very excited to have sold our first HF5000 system to the University of Queensland to follow the two HT7700 systems we installed last December.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Once again, we are looking to expand our service team!
As our installed base continues to expand, so does the “routine” workload and we need another talented and enthusiastic person to help Dennis, Dave, Derrick and Andrew stay on top of things. If you have service experience in either lasers or electron microscopy, we are flexible as to how we can utilise our team..… so would be interested to talk with you! Please contact Graeme or Dennis for further details.

HF5000 200 kV TEM
Aberration Corrected TEM
The HF5000 is a new 200 kV TEM combining Hitachi High-Tech's TEM and scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) technologies to achieve spatial resolution at the sub-angstrom (Sub-Å, 0.1 nm or less) level.
The HF5000 inherits features from Hitachi High-Tech's HD-2700 dedicated STEM, such as its in-house spherical aberration corrector, automated aberration correction function, and atomic resolution SE*2 imaging, while incorporating the TEM technologies developed in the HF series.

InSight X3 Widely tunable ultrafast laser
Spectra Physics Lasers have released the third generation InSight X3. With broad tuning range (680-1300 nm) for deepest imaging and with almost double the power across the 770-1300m tuning range tuneable beam and fixed beams compared to the previous version the InSight X3 is specifically designed for advanced multiphoton microscopy applications.
